What Is Hik-Connect?

Hik-Connect is Hikvision's free smartphone app for remote CCTV management. Available on both iOS and Android, it connects directly to your Hikvision NVR (network video recorder) or DVR via the internet, giving you full control over your security system from wherever you happen to be.

The app uses P2P (peer-to-peer) technology, which means there is no need for complex port forwarding or a static IP address. Setup is straightforward — simply scan the QR code displayed on your recorder, and the app pairs with your device automatically. Within minutes, you have live viewing, playback, and push notifications all working on your phone.

Hik-Connect supports multi-channel viewing, so you can watch all of your cameras simultaneously. You can also manage multiple properties from a single app — ideal for landlords, business owners, or anyone with CCTV at more than one location. The app also supports device sharing, allowing family members or colleagues to access the cameras with their own login credentials.

No Hidden Costs

Hik-Connect is completely free — there is no subscription, no monthly fee, and no limit on the number of devices you can share access with. The app works on both iOS and Android, and uses cloud P2P connectivity with AES-128 encryption to keep your footage secure.

There is no need for a static IP address or port forwarding. The P2P technology handles the connection automatically, which means setup is straightforward and reliable. As long as your recorder is connected to the internet via Ethernet, remote access just works.

Unlike some CCTV brands that charge monthly subscriptions for remote access or cloud storage, Hikvision includes Hik-Connect free with every system. All footage is stored locally on your recorder's hard drive — not in the cloud — so there are no ongoing costs. Is the Hik-Connect app free?

Yes. Hik-Connect is completely free to download and use with no subscription fees or monthly charges. Remote viewing, playback, and push notifications are all included at no cost. This applies to both domestic and commercial Hikvision systems.

Can I view my CCTV from abroad?

Yes. Hik-Connect works anywhere you have an internet connection. Your recorder connects to the Hikvision cloud via your home broadband, and your phone connects via mobile data or Wi-Fi. There is no geographic restriction.

How many cameras can I view on Hik-Connect?

There is no practical limit. The app supports multi-channel viewing — you can see all cameras from your NVR simultaneously. You can also manage multiple NVRs and DVRs from different locations within a single app, making it ideal for businesses with multiple sites.

Does Hik-Connect work without internet?

Hik-Connect requires an internet connection on both your recorder and your phone to provide remote access. However, your CCTV system continues recording locally even if the internet goes down — you simply cannot access it remotely until connectivity is restored. On the local network, you can still view cameras via web browser.

Can I share access to my CCTV with family members?

Yes. Hik-Connect allows you to share device access with other Hik-Connect accounts. Each person uses their own login, and you can manage their access at any time. This is commonly used for sharing between partners, family members, or letting a property manager access a rental property's cameras.
